President's Office

The Office of the Ombudsperson serves as an independent, confidential, impartial, and informal resource, whose central role is to help improve the quality of discourse on campus by providing individuals and groups with the tools to resolve conflicts and communicate more effectively. The ombudsperson provides a space to hear every voice without fear of retaliation and loss of privacy. The office also offers mediation services through the social justice lens and facilitates dialogue and social justice workshops for the Oberlin College community and beyond. Through the office, the Oberlin College Dialogue Center, a multi-partial mediation/facilitation service, assists members of the campus community in confronting and resolving sources of community tensions and conflicts, particularly those stemming from racism and other socially derived causes of prejudice and misunderstanding.
