Faculty Elections and Committee Assignments

Oberlin is democratically governed by its faculty through an extensive committee structure. Specific areas of policy are delegated to various sub-committees (such as Benefits, Academic Standing, or Educational Technology). Membership on most committees is voluntary. Additionally, there are several elected representative bodies: the College, Conservatory, and General Faculty Councils, the Educational Plans and Policies Committee, the Mediation Committee, and the Professional Conduct Review Committee. The Office of the General Counsel and Secretary manages the election process and keeps records of committee membership and purpose.
