How Oberlin Works

Ask me how.

Individual Giving

The executive director of individual giving manages leadership giving, the Oberlin Alumni Fund, and parent and family giving programs; he or she works closely with the directors and the staffs of these programs to strengthen their efforts and encourage collaboration.

Alumni Fund and Reunion Giving

The Oberlin Alumni Fund is an annual campaign to raise current-use, general operating dollars for the institution from alumni and friends of the College. These funds primarily provide scholarships for current students, as well as support for student life and teaching and learning programs. The Alumni Fund encourages support of Oberlin and educates potential donors about the importance of annual giving in sustaining Oberlin’s tradition of scholastic excellence, academic innovation, and musical artistry. The Alumni Fund team also oversees reunion giving programs.

Leadership Giving

The Office of Leadership Giving works with Oberlin College alumni, parents, and friends to identify individual giving opportunities in excess of $50,000, which are typically received in the form of outright contributions through cash and securities. Contributions of this nature have traditionally been designated by the donor for endowed support, for both faculty and students, and facilities projects.

Parent and Family Giving

The Oberlin Parents Fund is an annual campaign to raise current-use, general operating dollars for the institution from current and former parents and friends. These funds primarily provide scholarships for current students, as well as support for student life and teaching and learning programs. The Oberlin Parents Fund encourages support of Oberlin and educates potential donors about the importance of annual giving in sustaining Oberlin’s tradition of scholastic excellence, academic innovation, and musical artistry.
