Student Advising and Academic Policy (A&S)

Academic advising for students in the Arts and Sciences is overseen by the Office of the Dean of Studies and by the Office of Conservatory Associate Deans for Conservatory students. Conservatory students are advised by their studio teacher or by a faculty member in their major area. Each new Arts and Sciences student is assigned an academic advisor, who offers guidance in evaluating academic strengths and weaknesses and provides information on Oberlin’s curriculum, specific course choices, and regulations. An Arts and Sciences student may change advisors at any time by asking another faculty member to serve and by notifying the Office of the Dean of Studies. Students who have declared a major are advised by a member of the department in which they are majoring.
