How Oberlin Works

Ask me how.

Oberlin College Office and Professional Employees (OCOPE) is the sole bargaining agent for the approximately 190 employees of Oberlin College who hold administrative assistant positions. Began in the late 1960s, this union achieved the first contract for administrative assistants in 1971. In 1978, OCOPE members elected to affiliate with the Office and Professional Employees International Union (OPEIU), AFL-CIO, as Local 502.

Currently, OCOPE is on a three-year contract schedule with the College. It has worked to increase and extend benefits to all employees, enforce contracts, and guarantee compliance with labor laws.
